Summary: Most people don't have the optimal curly hair routine, which often results in lots of frizz. Here is a step-by-step guide to a curly hair routine that is loved by thousands of women!
93% of people make mistakes in their curly hair routine, which prevents them from achieving beautiful curls.
Step 1: Start right in the bath 💦
Your curls are already forming while your hair is soaking wet – not when you style it afterwards ✨ Wash your scalp gently and let the lather cleanse the lengths without rubbing.
Use plenty of conditioner, comb through your hair with your fingers and scrunch your hair upwards so that the curls gather 💛
Rinse most of it out – but leave a little moisture. Gently squeeze out the water with a T-shirt or microfibre cloth instead of rubbing 🚫🧖♀️
Extra tip 💡- Do not wash your hair in water that is too hot, as this will dry it out!
Step 2: Style on soaking wet hair 💧
This is your defining step.
While your hair is still dripping wet, squeeze curl mousse into the lengths – not the scalp 💧 Scrunch your hair upwards so that the curls begin to gather into distinct clumps.
If your hair feels dry or starts to frizz, add a little water again – water + mousse gives the most beautiful texture ✨
The mousse helps shape the curl and provides light hold, so the definition lasts all day 🌊
Step 3: Seal with curl cream 💛
Now it's all about control. The curl cream shouldn't just be applied – it needs to be applied correctly.
Distribute it over the curls using a ‘praying hands’ technique, so you smooth the product without separating your clumps ✨ Focus especially on the areas that tend to frizz (typically the top and front).
Gently scrunch again to give your curls elasticity and shine 🌊 If your hair looks ‘milky’ or heavy, you've used too much – start with less and build up.
This step is the difference between curls that frizz throughout the day... and curls that stay soft, cohesive and defined 💫
Step 4: Dry properly – without ruining your work 🌬️
Now is when many people ruin all their hard work.
Touch your hair as little as possible while it dries ✋ You can either air dry it naturally or use a diffuser on a low heat and low speed setting. Hold your head slightly forward or to the side and ‘cup’ the curls against your scalp in short intervals ✨ Avoid moving your hair around all the time – the more you fiddle with it, the more frizz you will get. Once your hair is 100% dry, you can touch it again 💛
Use Volume Hair Clips if you want extra volume in your hair.
Step 5: Break the cast – and achieve a smooth finish ✨
When your hair is 100% dry, it may feel a little stiff – this is completely normal 💛
It just means that the products have formed a ‘cast’ that has kept your curls in place.
Now gently scrunch your curls with your hands to break the cast and make them soft again 🌊 Now use 1-2 drops of oil in your palms for extra shine and less friction.
The result? Soft, defined curls with hold – without stiffness ✨
